A. Georges, G. Kotliar, W. Krauth, M. Rozenberg Dynamical mean-field theory of strongly correlated fermion systems and the limit of infinite dimensions Reviews of Modern Physics 68 13 (1996)

This is our review article of early work on DMFT. It discusses the basic theory, algorithms, and the Mott transition of the Hubbard model, among others.

Computer programs that I wrote for this review can be found on this page. These programs provide implementations for the Hirsch-Fye algorithm, the exact diagonalization algorithm (with M. Caffarel), and the iterated perturbation theory.
